body
DESCRIPTION
The Roads & Drainage Division received a request from an area resident to reduce the speed limit along County Road 580 (Johnson Avenue East). In researching the request, the Roads & Drainage Division discovered Resolutions adopted by the Board on April 13, 1982, and March 6, 1990, attached to the proposed Resolution as Exhibit “A” and Exhibit “B”, respectively. County Road 580 (Johnson Avenue East) and County Road 580 (Cypress Parkway) are located in the Haines City area in S-28, T-27S, R-25E, and are classified as Urban Collector and Rural Major Collector roads, respectively.
Staff conducted traffic studies on County Road 580 (Johnson Avenue East) and County Road 580 (Cypress Parkway), as outlined in Section 316.189 of the Florida Statutes, and investigated the five-year crash history. It was subsequently determined that postings of 30 M.P.H., 35 M.P.H., 45 M.P.H., and 55 M.P.H. are reasonable for these roads. To comply with statutory requirements, it is necessary for the Board to adopt a Resolution establishing the proposed speed limits.
RECOMMENDATION
Request Board adopt the associated Resolution to establish the proposed speed zones for County Road 580 (Johnson Avenue East) and County Road 580 (Cypress Parkway). Cost for installation of signs is estimated at $776.70.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funds are budgeted in the FY 25/26 Transportation Millage Fund.
