Adopt a Resolution Setting Parking Restrictions on County Road 37A (Scott Lake Road), near Lakeland ($616.07 one-time expense)

DESCRIPTION
The Roads & Drainage Division has received a request from an area resident to restrict parking on County Road 37A (Scott Lake Road). County Road 37A (Scott Lake Road) is located in the Lakeland area in S-18, T-29S, R-24E, and is classified as an Urban Collector road.
Staff conducted parking studies along County Road 37A (Scott Lake Road) to analyze this request and determined that parents of students of Lakeland Highlands Middle School are parking along the right-of-way, creating visibility issues.
Pursuant to FS 316.008, the Board of County Commissioners is vested with the authority to set parking restrictions on County roadways. Additionally, the posting of the requested restrictions will promote public safety and assist the Polk County Sheriff’s Office in their enforcement efforts.
To comply with statutory requirements, it is necessary for the Board to adopt a Resolution establishing the parking restrictions.
RECOMMENDATION
Request Board adopt the associated Resolution to establish parking restrictions for County Road 37A (Scott Lake Road). Estimated cost for installation of the signs is $616.07.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funds are budgeted in the FY 25/26 Transportation Millage Fund.
