DESCRIPTION
The County has a project to design and construct a new agricultural center complex. The complex is proposed to be located on property already owned by the County located to the east of US Hwy 17 and to the north of County Road 640 adjacent to the County's Mosaic Peace River Park. The County has an opportunity to purchase the only residential home located adjacent to the new complex. The property is a rectangular-shaped parcel, containing approximately one-half acre, located along the western boundary of the existing County property and adjacent to the railroad right-of-way. Negotiations with the owner of the property, Tracey Lee Delmar, have resulted in a proposed agreement with a price of $25,000 for the purchase of the property which contains an older home. Approving the Land Purchase Agreement, authorizing the issuance of funds for the purchase and closing costs and hiring American Government Services Corporation to close the acquisition will allow the County to close the transaction and take ownership of the property to incorporate into the overall agricultural center complex.
The County Attorney's Office and the Real Estate Services Director have reviewed the agreement and recommend approval. Approving the Land Purchase Agreement and authorizing the issuance of funds for the purchase along with closing fees will allow the County to close the transaction and acquire the parcel for the project.
RECOMMENDATION
Request Board approve the above-mentioned Land Purchase Agreement and authorize the issuance of funds in the amount of $25,000 for the purchase.
