title

body

DESCRIPTION

Polk County and the City of Winter Haven previously entered into an interlocal agreement for Tourist Development Tax funding to support the renovation of the Chain of Lakes Ball Park. The County and the City have each committed $12 million toward the project, with Polk County making an initial payment of $5 million and $7 million in debt service. Because of the County’s success in recruiting large events at the baseball fields and the Advent Health Fieldhouse, there is a need to expand parking in order to maximize the use of both facilities.

This Amendment authorizes shared funding for the construction of an additional parking lot at the Complex, estimated at $1,200,209. The County will contribute approximately $600,000 from available Tourist Development Tax funds, and the City will contribute $600,209 from its own resources.

RECOMMENDATION

Request the Board approve the Amendment to the Interlocal Agreement with the City of Winter Haven.

FISCAL IMPACT

The County shall contribute one-time funds of $600,000 from the Tourist Development Tax, which is budgeted in the FY 25-26 Tourism and Sports Marketing Division budget.
