DESCRIPTION

University of South Florida provides Polk County routine maintenance of the Polk County Water Atlas and other outlined water quality related research tasks. The Water Atlas is a web- based program that provides information to the public on water quality and hydrology of lakes and streams throughout Polk County. The water quality related research tasks assist the County in gathering data and providing analysis of water quality trends that is incorporated into the Annual National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit report.

An existing Research Services Agreement provides the framework for Polk County to work with USF until September 30, 2027.

The 2024-2025 Scope of Services is also attached for approval. The scope of services is to maintain and enhance the COUNTY Water Atlas and provide information regarding water quality that is necessary for the NPDES permit. The deliverable product is for maintenance of a fully functional website for COUNTY staff and citizens. The application will be upgraded with new functionality resulting from the university's development of new Water Atlas software. Trends analysis and Lake Vegetation Index data will be collected, and report provided. This information will be incorporated into the annual NPDES permit report.
