DESCRIPTION
The proposed CSA will completely redesign the signalization of this intersection. The traffic signal at the intersection of Avenue G and 42nd St. is at the end of its lifespan and is in need to be updated with new technology. This technology is primarily related to the control cabinet and detection system which needs to be completely updated. Additionally, the strain poles are wood and need to be replaced. The scope of these design services will also address the proximity to the railroad tracks, which the current technology in place cannot address as it relates to synchronization. The design will also include the addition of lighting and evaluating if any road improvements are needed.
This CSA will provide professional engineering services to perform signal design, roadway and drainage plans, and a traffic control plan. County staff has negotiated a CSA with the Consultant to provide professional engineering services for this project. The Consultant is to perform these services at a total not-to-exceed fee of $176,782.41 and will be completed as detailed in “Exhibit A”.
RECOMMENDATION
Request the Board approve CSA No. 22-094-06 with the Consultant at a not-to-exceed fee of $176,782.41 for the Avenue G and 42nd St. project.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funds are budgeted and available in the County Transportation Trust Fund within the Roads and Drainage 5-Year CIP.
