DESCRIPTION
Approve the CDBG subrecipient agreement between Polk County and the City of Bartow, for the City of Bartow Project SAFE - Sidewalk Accessibility for Everyone/Carver Recreation Center Lighting Enhancement Project.
For Project SAFE - Sidewalk Accessibility for Everyone, CDBG funds will be used to create new sidewalks and curbing that will accommodate pedestrians and include mobility aids with ADA compliant curb ramps and tactile warning strips at intersections along Golfview Avenue between MLK Blvd and E Georgia St.
For the Carver Recreation Center Lighting Enhancement Project, CDBG Funds will be for the installation of lighting on eight existing light poles at the Carver Recreation Center to improve safety, extend facility use, and to increase accessibility for community programming.
The City of Bartow will use CDBG funds for the above activities in the amount not to exceed $199,411.19. This project was approved by the Board of County Commissioners in the adoption of the 2025-2026 Action Plan.
RECOMMENDATION
Request Board of County Commissioners approve and execute this Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) subrecipient agreement between Polk County and the City of Bartow.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funds are available in Special Revenue Grant Fund.
