DESCRIPTION

This is a County-initiated request for an LDC text amendment amending Ordinance No. 00-09, as amended, the Polk County Land Development Code, to amend Appendix E, Section E105, Parcel Specific Comprehensive Plan Amendments, providing for an Activity Center Plan for an expansion of an Activity center on property subject to LDCPAS-2025-24. The subject property is located on the south side of Shimmering Drive (Shepherd Road) east of Strickland Avenue, east of Clark Lake and north of W. Carter Road, north of the City of Mulberry, in Section 25, Township 29, Range 23; Providing for Severability; and Providing for an Effective Date. State law requires one Planning Commission hearing, which will be held on June 3, 2026.

Section 163.3202, Florida Statutes (F.S.) requires the Board to adopt Land Development Code (LDC) regulations consistent with the implementation of the Polk County Comprehensive Plan. Amendments to the LDC require two public hearings before the Board to be adopted.

 

RECOMMENDATION

Request Board set for the first reading on July 7, 2026, at 9:15 a.m. and the adoption hearing date on July 21, 2026, at 9:15 a.m.
