DESCRIPTION
The Haley Center is one of five free clinics financially supported by the Indigent Health Care sales tax and is contracted with the County to provide services to low-income Polk County residents. The clinic is currently located at 3425 Lake Alfred Road, Suite 1 in Winter Haven.
Primary care and specialty care services are provided by staff and more than 60 volunteers including physicians, nurse practitioners, medical providers, administrative and ancillary staff. Additionally, they provide clinical educational opportunities to the local technical schools and universities for their students including medical doctors, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, medical assistants, dietitians, nutritionists, and clinical nurse assistants.
In response to a Request for Applications through Indigent Health Care, The Haley Center submitted a request for $1.6 million dollars to purchase a pre-existing, 3,350 square foot medical office building at 603 6th St NW, Winter Haven. Currently, The Haley Center is residing in a leased building that does not have a right for renewal clause. Multiple changes in the building's ownership have continuously challenged The Haley Center's day-to-day operations. The purchase of this building will sustain the delivery of health care services with the potential to expand and increase services. Additionally, the location of the site is more visible and accessible to the public.
This contract with The Haley Center will allow for the purchase of the building as well as fund a portion of closing costs, costs associated with conducting due diligence regarding purchase of the property, and costs necessary to transition The Haley Center into the new location.
