DESCRIPTION
The Utilities Division currently utilizes Advanced Environmental Laboratories, Inc. to perform water and wastewater analysis that is reported to state environmental agencies and has determined there is a need to have a second laboratory under contract due to increased needs, which reduces the operational capabilities to complete sample tests as well as risk missing the deadline for time-sensitive projects that require a quick turnaround time. Contracting with a second lab is a risk-management strategy that will enable Polk County Utilities to expand their operational capabilities and assist with meeting regulatory requirements and deadlines.
Utilities requested Procurement piggyback the Hillsborough County agreement with Eurofins Drinking Water and Wastewater Southeast, LLC. There are no local vendors that provide these services.
The term of the agreement is three years.
RECOMMENDATION
Request Board approve cooperative agreement with Eurofins Drinking Water and Wastewater Southeast, LLC, to provide laboratory analytical services. ($100,000 estimated annual expense)
FISCAL IMPACT
Funding is available for these services within the Utilities operating fund.
