DESCRIPTION
In an effort to combat illegal dumping in the northeast region of Polk County, the Solid Waste Division will implement a pilot project at the Polk County Northeast Landfill, located at 4001 Bannon Island Rd, Haines City.
The “NELF-CCC” pilot will accept items commonly found in illegally dump sites including household waste, furniture, bulky wastes, yard debris, residential construction debris (not commercial), tires and scrap metal.
The rate structure for disposal will be “by vehicle type” including:
Car/SUV/Pickup - $10.00
Vehicle with <6’ Utility or enclosed trailer - $18.00
Vehicle with 6’-16’ Utility or enclosed trailer - $27.00
Tires - $5.00 each
Residents must show proof of residency and payments only by debit/credit card (no cash accepted). No commercial entities will be allowed to utilize this facility, including no automated dump trailers.
Hours of operation: Monday - Friday 09:00AM to 03:00PM, Saturday 09:00AM to 01:00PM.
RECOMMENDATION
Approve the “NELF-CCC” Pilot Project and adopt the attached Resolution establishing the NELF-CCC disposal rates.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funds are available in the Solid Waste Operations budget.
