body

DESCRIPTION

The Board of County Commissioners has a policy that allows for the installation of traffic calming devices on certain County roads, provided they meet the criteria set forth in the policy.

On November 7, 2017, the Board of County Commissioners adopted Resolution #17-118, attached to the Proposed Resolution as Exhibit “A”, allowing for the installation of three traffic calming devices on Avenue Y Northeast. Avenue Y Northeast is located in the Winter Haven area in S-16, T-28S, R-26E, and is classified as a Local Residential road.

An area resident subsequently approached the County with a request to install an additional traffic calming device on Avenue Y Northeast. Under direction of the County Attorney’s office, staff distributed ballots to affected homeowners and received a favorable vote from the required percentage of that population.

RECOMMENDATION

Request Board adopt the associated Resolution to allow for the installation of one additional traffic calming device (speed hump) on Avenue Y Northeast. Cost for installation of the traffic calming device is estimated at $5,000.00.

FISCAL IMPACT

Funding is budgeted in the FY 25/26 Transportation Millage Fund.
