DESCRIPTION

The County’s Land Donation Program allows property owners to donate property to the County for which there is a need or use by the County.  An attorney representing an Estate which owns property in Polk County contacted county staff with an offer from his client to donate the property to the County.  The property, identified as Parcel ID Number 262619-000000-033310, is a vacant parcel located to the east of Old Grade Road and to the north of Interstate 4.  County staff reviewed the property and determined that there is a use for the property as it is located within a recognized State Conservation Area known as the Green Swamp Florida Forever Board of Trustees - Project Area.  The subject property is a rectangular-shaped parcel containing approximately 1-acre which has very little market value and limited or no access.

Loretta M. Markham acquired the property in 1981 and she is now deceased.  The attorney requested an agreement for the donation for probate purposes.  The personal representative of the Estate, Dirk S. Markham, has executed and delivered a Land Donation Agreement along with a Quit Claim Deed to the County for the donation/conveyance of the property.  Approving the Land Donation Agreement and accepting the Quit Claim Deed will allow the County to take ownership of the property being donated to be utilized for conservation preservation.

RECOMMENDATION

Request Board approve the Land Donation Agreement and accept the afore-mentioned Quit Claim Deed.
