DESCRIPTION
On March 21, 2023, the Board approved CSA No. 22-088-01 with the Consultant to provide for professional engineering services to perform an alternatives analysis for improvements to the existing Cypress Parkway at Lake Marion Creek Road intersection at a cost not-to-exceed $102,255.00. The work effort included the evaluation of a single lane roundabout and a traditional mast arm signal. The draft alternatives analysis evaluation report was complete on August 3, 2023.
Upon reviewing the draft alternatives analysis evaluation report, the County determined that due to potential for widening of Cypress Parkway and Johnson Avenue in the future, it was recommended that the intersection be evaluated and designed for an ultimate 4-lane configuration.
This modification is required to allow the Consultant to modify the traffic analysis for the intersection and determine the capacity and operational improvements needed to bring the overall intersection performance to an acceptable level of service on all approaches, based upon the anticipated 4-lane expansion of Cypress Parkway within the study limits. The CONSULTANT shall utilize the results of the traffic analysis to develop one (1) conceptual intersection alternative for a 4-laned signalized intersection design addition and/or extension of auxiliary turn lanes, and one (1) conceptual intersection alternative for a 2-lane roundabout design. Upon preparation of the alternatives analysis evaluation report and identification of a recommended alternative, the County will select a preferred alternative for final design. This will increase the contract amount by $54,255.00 and will bring the total not-to-exceed fee to $156,510.00.
