DESCRIPTION

This is an applicant-initiated request to adopt a resolution necessary to extend the current Development Order expiration date 20 years to continue processing mined material at the South Fort Meade mine on 17,508.5 +/- acres in a Rural Development Area (RDA) and Phosphate Mining (PM) Future Land Use designation. The site is located north of Hardee County and County Line Road (Hardee/Highlands), east of US 17, west of Lastinger Road and Singletary Road and Avon Park Cutoff Road, south of US 98, southeast of the City of Fort Meade. On February 5, 2025, the Planning Commission voted 7-0 to recommend approval of this application. This case is related to LDCU-2024-38.
