DESCRIPTION
Every three (3) years, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) requires counties receiving Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds to requalify for Urban County entitlement status. As part of this process, Polk County must provide eligible municipalities with the opportunity to participate in the Urban County CDBG program and renew cooperation agreements with existing participating municipalities for an additional three-year qualification period.
The proposed amendments will renew Polk County’s Urban Partnership Agreements with Auburndale, Bartow, Davenport, Eagle Lake, Frostproof, Haines City, Lake Alfred, and Winter Haven for the Program Years 2027, 2028, and 2029. Approval of the accompanying Resolution will authorize the County’s continued administration of the Urban County CDBG program and authorize the Chair to execute the partnership agreement amendments. Upon approval and execution Housing and Neighborhood Development staff will transmit the required documentation to HUD.
