DESCRIPTION

Lakeland Volunteers in Medicine, Inc. (LVIM) is one of five free clinics financially supported by the Indigent Health Care sales tax and has contracted with the County since October 2011 to provide services to low-income Polk County residents. Currently, the County is contracted with LVIM to provide primary care, specialty care, screening services (lung cancer, colon cancer and hepatitis C), dental care, and behavioral healthcare services. All services are provided to qualified residents that are at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level.

The first amendment combined two contracts into this one contract and added behavioral healthcare services. This second amendment will be effective retroactive to March 1, 2026 and increases the funding amount for fiscal year 25/26 by $25,000 for diagnostics.

This funding request was presented to and is recommended for approval by the Citizen’s HealthCare Oversight Committee.
