Adopt Resolution Setting Truck Restrictions on Deen Still Road East (near Davenport). ($1,271.90 one-time expense)
body
DESCRIPTION
Polk County Roads & Drainage recently evaluated the segment of Deen Still Road East between Old Grade Road and US Highway 27. In its evaluation, staff discovered that the structural integrity of the pavement is becoming compromised, due to an excessive amount of commercial truck traffic through the corridor.
The Roads & Drainage Division proposes to restrict thru commercial vehicles along Deen Still Road East, between Old Grade Road and US Highway 27, to encourage truck traffic to use more viable alternate routes, and preserve the existing pavement through this section of roadway.
FS 316.008 allows local governments to prohibit or regulate the use of certain roadways by any class or kind of traffic found to be incompatible with the normal and safe movement of traffic. Based on staff research, it was determined that postings of “No Thru Trucks” for Deen Still Road East will benefit the residents in the area, as well as the traveling public, by restricting commercial traffic.
RECOMMENDATION
Request Board adopt the associated Resolution to establish truck restrictions for Deen Still Road East. Estimated cost for installation of the signs is $1,271.90.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funds are budgeted in the FY 24/25 Transportation Millage Fund.
