DESCRIPTION

This is a County-initiated request for an amendment to the Polk County Comprehensive Plan regarding the sewer connection requirement for duplex units in the Residential Low land use designation in Indian Lakes Estates (ILE). ILE is located south of SR 60, north of CR 640 and east of the City of Lake Wales. State law requires one Planning Commission hearing, which will be held on June 3, 2026.

Section 163.3202, Florida Statutes (F.S.) requires the Board to adopt Land Development Code (LDC) regulations consistent with the implementation of the Polk County Comprehensive Plan. Amendments to the LDC require two public hearings before the Board to be adopted.

 

RECOMMENDATION

Request Board set for the first reading on June 16, 2026, at 9:15 a.m. and the adoption hearing date on August 18, 2026, at 9:15 a.m.
