DESCRIPTION

Purpose: To review and approve or deny certain types of development applications (Level 3 and Level 4) pursuant to the use tables in Chapter 2, 4, and 5 of the Land Development Code.

Creating Authority: Polk County Ordinance 00-09, and as amended, the Polk County Land Development Code. The Planning Commission is the Local Planning Agency (LPA) per Section 163.3174 Florida Statutes (F.S.)

Appointments: Seven members and three alternates to be appointed by the BoCC. The Board should include members representing the following areas: AICP Certified Planner; licensed professional engineer, surveyor and mapper, architect, or landscape architect; natural or environmental specialist; a farmer, rancher, or an individual involved in other aspects of agriculture; a business person, who may include a licensed realtor, licensed general contractor or subcontractor.

Term Limits: Three year term limited to 2 full length consecutive terms and a maximum of 8 years if initial appointment is less than 3 years.

Reason for appointment:  Expiration of term of current member, Robert Beltran.

 

RECOMMENDATION

Appoint Shane E. Bevilacqua as a Member of the Polk County Planning Commission for the three-year term, September 1, 2026 to August 31, 2029.
