DESCRIPTION
The Roads and Drainage Division requested Procurement to solicit bids from qualified contractors who were interested in extending the Fort Fraser Trail. The current trail runs parallel to U.S. 98 for 7.75 miles along an abandoned railway line, from SR 60 in Bartow to SR 540 in Lakeland. This extension will add 2.4 miles to the trail starting at SR 540/Winter Lake Road and will run parallel and adjacent to the Polk County Parkway to Lakeland Highlands Road at Glendale Street.
Bid 23-444, Fort Fraser Trail Extension - Winter Lake Road to Glendale Street, was issued and two bids were received. The lowest responsive bidder was Crisdel Group, Inc.

A recommendation of award was issued to Crisdel Group, Inc., and no protests were received. In accordance with Resolution No. 13-066, $250,000.00 was added to the contract for allowance work for a total contract amount of $6,943,298.20. The contract time for this project is 365 days. Allowance time for the project is 54 days.
This project is partially funded through the State of Florida Department of Transportation Shared-Use Nonmotorized (SUN) Trail network program. The SUN funds have been budgeted in the amount of $3,897,960.00 with the remaining $3,045,338.20 budgeted for within the Transportation Millage Fund.
