DESCRIPTION
The County owns and operates a potable water supply, treatment, transmission, and distribution system, and a wastewater collection, transmission, treatment, and disposal system which together are commonly known as the Waverly Utility System. The Waverly Utility System service area is depicted on the attached exhibit.
The County and the City of Lake Wales utility staffs have each considered the Waverly Utility System and recommend a sale of the system to the City of Lake Wales. Prior to the sale of any water or wastewater system, Florida Statutes, section 125.3401, requires the Board of County Commissioners to hold a public hearing on the proposed sale, and make a determination that the sale is in the public interest.
RECOMMENDATION
Set a public hearing for December 16, 2025, at 9:15 a.m. regarding the proposed sale of the Waverly Utility System to the City of Lake Wales as required by Florida Statutes, section 125.3401.
