DESCRIPTION
The City of Lakeland (Lakeland Electric) in conjunction with the new Orlando Health Watson Clinic Lakeland Highlands Hospital has plans to install a secondary electric service feed to the hospital to provide redundancy in the event of outages. The secondary lines are proposed to connect to existing facilities, which are operated under a separate circuit, located near the intersection of US Highway 98 and Winter Lake Road. A proposed route for the secondary feed runs along the south side of the County’s Holloway Family Trail to Winter Lake Road. Representatives from the hospital and the City contacted the County and requested an easement, measuring primarily 10-feet wide, over a portion of the County-owned trail property to accommodate the installation and future maintenance of the electric lines. The City has prepared an Easement document which also allows for communication cables to accommodate a planned fiber optic line along the same route as the electric lines. Approving and authorizing the Easement will give the City the easement needed to operate and maintain the secondary electric feed to the hospital and allow for the planned fiber optic cable.
RECOMMENDATION
Request Board authorize the aforementioned Easement to the City of Lakeland.
