DESCRIPTION

Peterson & Myers, on behalf of PH Citrus, LLC., has appealed the decision of the Planning Commission to deny LDCU-2025-29 (Mammoth Grove Mine), a request for Conditional Use (CU) approval of a Sand Mine (Non-Phosphate Mining) on approximately 656 acres within an Agricultural/Residential Rural (A/RR) and Industrial (IND) land use district. The property is located north and south of State Road 60, south of Camp Mack Road, east and west of Mammoth Grove Road, north of Griffith Road, east of Dude Ranch Road, west of Saddlebag Lake Road, east of the City of Lake Wales in Sections 1, 2, 11, 12 & 35, Townships 30 & 29, Range 28.

Section 921.C.3 of the Land Development Code (LDC) requires a de novo hearing to be held within 60 days of the Planning Commission hearing. The applicant requested and was granted an extension by the Land Development Director to March 17, 2026.
