DESCRIPTION
Back in 2025, the City of Bartow approached the County regarding the transfer of some roadways in lieu of payment for maintenance activities by the city. The result of the discussions was the attached Agreement to transfer the following roads to the City of Bartow for a one-time payment of $1,300,000.00. The following roads will be transferred to the City of Bartow:
• Finger Lane
• E.F. Griffin Road
• Smith Lane
• Cedar Ridge Road
• Ernest Smith Blvd
• Old Bartow Eagle Lake Road (Ernest M. Smith Blvd to Wilson Ave N.)
• Lyle Parkway
• Gaskin Road
• Mann Road
• Clear Springs Mine Road
The payment estimate was established based on resurfacing and maintenance cost of certain roadways.
RECOMMENDATION
Request Board Approve the Agreement for the Transfer of Roads from Polk County to the City of Bartow
FISCAL IMPACT
Funds are available in the Transportation Millage Fund.
