Accept Quit Claim Deed for property being donated for conservation preservation, Ellis Estate Parcel. ($125 estimated one-time expense)

DESCRIPTION

The County’s Land Donation Program allows property owners to donate property to the County for which there is a need or use by the County.  A representative for the Estate which owns a parcel of land contacted the County and offered to donate the property to the County; however, he has requested the County pay the back property taxes due on the property in the estimated amount of $125.  The property, identified as Parcel ID Number 262628-000000-034190, is a vacant parcel located in the northwest part of the County. County staff reviewed the property and determined that there is a use for the property as it is located within a recognized State Conservation Area known as the Green Swamp Florida Forever Board of Trustees Project area. The subject property is a vacant, rectangular-shaped parcel containing approximately nine-tenths of an acre with very little market value and limited or no access.

William E. Ellis and Judith D. Ellis acquired the property in 1980 and both have since passed with Judith predeceasing William.  The duly authorized Personal Representative of William’s Estate has executed and delivered a Quit Claim Deed to the County for the property. Accepting the Quit Claim Deed and paying the property taxes will allow the County to take ownership of the property being donated to be utilized for conservation preservation.

RECOMMENDATION

Request Board accept the afore-mentioned Quit Claim Deed and authorize the payment of property taxes due on the property in the estimated amount of $125.

FISCAL IMPACT

Funds are available for the payment of the property taxes in the Environmental Lands Acquisition Fund.
