body
DESCRIPTION
Polk County entered into an agreement with the Association of Poinciana Villages, Inc. (APV) in December of 2021 to complete mowing and ditch cleaning in the County’s right-of-way. The County owns and controls many miles of right-of-way for County Roads within the Poinciana development that require routine maintenance including mowing and ditch cleaning. APV continues to be willing to complete mowing and ditch cleaning in Poinciana and it represents that it has the resources necessary to properly carry out that work.
In light of the distance between County Roadway Maintenance facilities and Poinciana and limited resources of the County’s Roadway Maintenance Division, it continues to be in the best interest of the public that the County contract with APV to provide mowing and ditch cleaning services in Poinciana. APV shall mow and clean the ditches along the County Roads. Mowing will generally be done using bat-wing type mowers that yield a 15-foot cut for a majority of the roads with 1 cut on each side and 3.64 acres of cutting area per linear mile of road surface.
RECOMMENDATION
Request Board approve the agreement for mowing and ditch cleaning services with the Association of Poinciana Villages, Inc. to expire on December 30, 2025.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funding for this agreement is budgeted in the Transportation Trust Fund.
