DESCRIPTION
The Board reappointed Tiffany Stanton-Hawks, Esquire as a Code Enforcement Special Magistrate to serve a term of two years starting July 1, 2025 and ending June 30, 2027. The Polk County Special Magistrate Ordinance limits the special magistrate terms to two years and requires that the special magistrate be an attorney who is in good standing with the Florida Bar Association with a residence or business within Polk County and does not hold another elected or public office in Polk County. Tiffany Stanton-Hawks meets these qualifications.
The Agreement provides the special magistrate a $500 per day stipend for each day of regularly scheduled hearings with a day of hearings averaging five hours. Code Enforcement hearings are scheduled once a month. The Agreement also provides a $100 per day stipend in cases, which an emergency hearing is requested by the County. Such hearings are very rare and a maximum of two may occur.
