DESCRIPTION
In 2018, Polk County submitted a grant application to the FDOT under the Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Program for Inwood Elementary School. The grant was approved and the FDOT agreed to provide $145,539.00 for design, $360,264.00 for construction, and $59,443 for CEI; totaling $565,246.00 for the Project, with the County responsible for any costs in excess of the State provided funds.
On October 3, 2023, the Board approved Local Agency Program (LAP) Agreement No. 444275-2-58-01 with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) to provide $360,264.00 in funds for the construction of the Inwood Elementary School SRTS sidewalk project.
The design includes approximately 5056 feet of sidewalk, 155 feet of gravity wall with handrail, 33 crosswalks and associated signage. The Consultant completed the design using an FDOT continuing services contract, however, the FDOT provided design funding did not include any post-design services for construction.
The construction RFP is being prepared and funding is needed for the Consultant to attend meetings, site visits, review shop drawings, answer Requests for Additional Information and additional post design services as detailed in “Exhibit A”.
