Public Hearing to consider the adoption of an ordinance setting the yearly salary of Commissioners in accordance with Section 2.5 of the Polk County Charter.

DESCRIPTION

The Charter provides that Commissioners may by unanimous vote of the members of the entire Board of County Commissioners amend their annual salary.  “Any increase shall not exceed the average percentage increase in the salaries of county employees for the fiscal year just concluded, or the percentage change in the U.S. consumer price index for the previous year, whichever is less.” The proposed increase of 2.9% which is the lesser of the average percentage increase in the salaries of county employees for the fiscal year 24-25 (4%) and the percentage change in the U.S. consumer price index for 2024 (2.9%).  If approved, the Commissioner’s salaries will increase from $51,304.54 to $52,792.37, a difference of $1,487.83.

 

 

RECOMMENDATION

Adopt Ordinance for the purpose of increasing the yearly salary of Polk County Commissioners by 2.9% as provided for by the Polk County Charter.

 

 

FISCAL IMPACT

Fiscal impact of $7,439.15.  Funds were included within the FY 25-26 budget to cover this increase.
