DESCRIPTION

The County was contacted by the Polk County Fraternal Order of Police, Inc., a Florida not-for-profit corporation, which owns property located at the end of W. Brannen Road who expressing concerns regarding flooding on its property due to storm water runoff from the adjacent County roadway.  County staff reviewed the area and has proposed improvements, consisting of inlets and drainage pipes to divert the stormwater runoff from the roadway to the north into an existing outfall area which would help to alleviate the flooding issues.  To accommodate the construction and future maintenance of the proposed improvements the County requested an easement measuring 20-feet wide along the western boundary of the owner’s property.  The owner agreed to the County’s request and has executed and delivered a Drainage Easement to the County.  Accepting the Drainage Easement will allow the County to move forward with the proposed drainage improvements in an effort to alleviate flooding concerns in the area. 

RECOMMENDATION

Request Board accept the afore-mentioned Drainage Easement.
