DESCRIPTION
The Polk County Board of County Commissioners has set out the guidelines for how Allowance Work will be determined in construction contracts. Staff for the Facilities Division and Roads & Drainage Division believe allowance work for vertical and horizontal construction should be divided and subject to different rates to better reflect the unique necessities of the two construction methods. Allowance Work for Horizontal Construction will be in an amount up to fifteen percent (15%) of the construction contract bid amount with no dollar cap will be included in the construction contract price. Allowance Work for Vertical Construction will be in an amount up to ten percent (10%) of the contract bid amount OR Five Hundred Thousand Dollars ($500,000.00), whichever is less, will be included in the construction contract price. Furthermore, the resolution delegates the authority to approve allowance work to the County Division Director, the County Manager, and the Deputy County Manager, referred generally as the “Allowance Administrator”.
RECOMMENDATION
Approve and adopt the Resolution amending Resolution No 2001-094, Polk County Allowance Work policy establishing Allowance Administrator and providing allowance work rates for horizontal and vertical construction.
FISCAL IMPACT
There is no fiscal impact to the County.
