DESCRIPTION

This is a County-initiated request to modify Section 222 to clarify the County’s code on nonresidential farm buildings and structures for the purpose of feeding and sheltering of livestock in residential neighborhoods and allow for variances. State law requires one Planning Commission hearing, which was held on December 6, 2023. The Planning Commission voted 5-0 to recommend approval.

Section 163.3202, Florida Statutes (F.S.) requires the Board to adopt Land Development Code (LDC) regulations consistent with the implementation of the Polk County Comprehensive Plan. Amendments to the LDC require two public hearings before the Board to be adopted. This is the first of the two hearings.
