DESCRIPTION

The Vaughn Road widening project was included in the FY 2023-2024 CIP for Polk County’s Utilities Division (PCU) as part of their planned facility upgrades at 59 Vaugh Road in Winter Haven.

Vaughn Road from Sheffield Road to its northern terminus (≈ 0.34 miles) has a current pavement width of 20 feet and must be widened to 24 feet to accommodate future access associated with the County’s planned Fire Training Facility. County staff has negotiated a CSA with the Consultant to provide design services for this project.

This CSA provides for professional engineering services to develop a Preliminary Engineering Report that includes preliminary geotechnical services, roadway analysis, drainage analysis, construction cost estimates, right of way cost estimates, and coordination with the various Utility Agency Owners as well as the Southwest Florida Water Management District. The Consultant will also be required to coordinate with PCU and attend their monthly progress meetings for this project. The Consultant is to perform these services at a total not-to-exceed fee of $112,447.00 and will be completed in accordance with the project schedule and compensation detailed in Exhibit “A”.

Request the Board approve CSA No. 22-096-02 with the Consultant at a not-to-exceed fee of $112,447.00 for the Vaugh Road Widening project.
