DESCRIPTION

The FDOT has agreed to participate in pass-through LAP funding and financial oversight of design services on 12.81 miles of paved multi-use trail, connecting Auburndale to Haines City and closing a gap in the SUN Trail Network by linking the TECO-Auburndale/Van Fleet Trails to the Haines City Trailhead (FPN 435391-2-38-01). The project includes a 10-foot to 12-foot-wide ADA compliant multi-use trail. The FDOT prepared PD&E phase is approaching completion, and the award of the design contract is anticipated in Fall/Winter 2025.

The LAP Agreement includes $2,000,335.00 for design services. FDOT’s participation may be increased or reduced upon determination of the actual bid amounts. However, Polk County agrees to bear all expenses more than the total cost of the project and any deficits incurred should FDOT not cover these additional costs. An RFP will be developed for the selection of a designer.
