DESCRIPTION

The County’s Land Donation Program allows property owners to donate property to the County for which there is a need or use by the County.  A representative for the owner of two parcels of land located within Polk County contacted the County and offered to donate the properties.  The properties, identified as Parcel ID Number 262620-000000-021250 and Parcel ID Number 262630-000000-032230, are vacant, non-contiguous, rectangular shaped parcels located to the north Interstate 4 between Sweet Hill Road and Old Grade Road.  The County’s staff reviewed the parcels and determined that there is a use for the properties as they are located within a recognized State Conservation area known as the Green Swamp Florida Forever Board of Trustees Project Area.  The subject properties are both rectangular-shaped parcels containing a total of approximately 1.88 acres and have very little market value with limited or no access.

Craddock Diversified Enterprises, Inc., n/k/a High Country Holdings, Inc., acquired the properties in 1990.  The authorized representative for the owner has executed and delivered a Quit Claim Deed to the County for the conveyance of the properties.  Accepting and approving the Quit Claim Deed will allow the County to take ownership of the properties being donated to be utilized for conservation purposes.

RECOMMENDATION

Request Board accept the aforementioned Quit Claim Deed.

FISCAL IMPACT

No fiscal impact.
