DESCRIPTION
Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) allows customers real-time access to their water usage. The meters transmit usage data automatically through repeaters strategically located over a variable geography throughout the service area to the Utilities Administration offices. The up-to-date meter information provides advanced notice of leaks or high usage to staff and the customers alike. The AMI project is part of the County’s technological initiatives that allow improved customer service by provide real-time usage information, instantaneous meter readings to resolve customer inquiries, and improved employee safety.
This project includes the design of the infrastructure needed to convey meter signals throughout the Northeast Regional Utility Service Area to the Utilities Administration Building. The project includes an update of the propagation study for the northeast service area, location and design of repeater towers in a similar manner as designed for the southwest region, and construction services related to the installation of the towers.
RECOMMENDATION
Request Board approve Consultant Services Authorization 2024-007-01 with Carollo Engineers, Inc., to provide professional services for the Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) Support - Northeast Regional Utility Service Area Design Services project for a cost not-to-exceed $125,658.88.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funding in the amount of $125,658.88 is available in the Repair and Rehabilitation AMI Meter Change-out project budget.
