DESCRIPTION

A representative for the owner of two parcels of land in the northern part of the county, Higinio Nieves Diaz, contacted County staff to inquire if the County had any interest in purchase the properties.  The properties identified as Parcel ID Numbers 262710-000000-011070/011130 are contiguous, rectangular-shaped, vacant parcels containing approximately 1.14 acres each.  County staff reviewed the parcels and determined that the properties are located immediately adjacent to a large landholding held jointly by the County known as the Lake Lowery Marsh Management Area.  Acquiring the parcels would allow them to be incorporated into, and aide in the overall land management of, the area.  The county offered to pay a proposed purchase price of $1,136, based on the Property Appraiser’s assessed value, for the properties.  The owner has agreed to the proposed purchase amount and has executed a Land Purchase Agreement.  Approving the Land Purchase Agreement will allow the County to purchase and take ownership of the subject properties for use in the management area.

RECOMMENDATION

Request Board approve the aforementioned Land Purchase Agreement and authorize the issuance of funds in the amount of $1,136 for the purchase.

FISCAL IMPACT

Funds are available in the amount of $1,136 for the purchase in the Environmental Land Acquisition Fund.
