DESCRIPTION
The Polk Regional Water Cooperative (“PRWC”) has a project to address future water supply needs within Polk County. The project, known as the Southeast Wellfield and Water Production Facility Project, consists of the construction of a potable water facility, multiple supply wells and a regional transmission system. As part of the transmission system a booster pump station is needed and PRWC has identified a portion of a parcel owned by the County that could be utilized for this purpose. The County owned property, currently identified as Parcel ID Number 252812-000000-044030, is an irregular shaped parcel containing approximately 8.25-acres located along the north side of Derby Avenue in Auburndale. The County owned parcel contains a permitted water quality/retention pond on the western portion of the site and the PRWC has identified a portion in the southeast corner of the parcel containing approximately 1-acre for the proposed pumping station. PRWC has requested the County convey its interest in the subject 1-acre portion of the property to it for its project. County staff have determined that the conveyance of the requested 1-acre portion will not negatively impact the operation and maintenance of the pond. Authorizing a County Deed to PRWC will allow it to take ownership of the 1-acre parcel to be utilized for its project.
RECOMMENDATION
Request Board authorize the aforementioned County Deed for the conveyance of the County’s interest, including any that may otherwise be reserved by Florida Statutes, to Polk Regional Water Cooperative.
FISCAL IMPACT
