DESCRIPTION

This is a County-initiated request for an LDC text amendment amending Ordinance No. 00-09, as amended, the Polk County Land Development Code, amending Chapter 3, Conditional Uses, Section 303, Criteria For Conditional Uses for High Intensity Recreation to allow access via easement for firearms ranges; providing for severability. State law requires one Planning Commission hearing, which will be held on May 6, 2026.

Section 163.3202, Florida Statutes (F.S.) requires the Board to adopt Land Development Code (LDC) regulations consistent with the implementation of the Polk County Comprehensive Plan. Amendments to the LDC require two public hearings before the Board to be adopted.

 

RECOMMENDATION

Request Board set for the first reading on June 2, 2026, at 9:15 a.m. and the adoption hearing date on June 16, 2026, at 9:15 a.m.
