DESCRIPTION
On December 5, 2023, the County entered into agreement 2023-074, with Wharton-Smith, Inc., to provide pre-construction CMAR services for the Northeast Regional Wastewater Treatment Facility (NERWWTF) expansion from 6 to 9 MGD project. This expansion is projected to meet wastewater demands of the Northeast Regional Utility Service Area (NERUSA) and address treatment improvements to meet the goals of the Ocklawaha and Lake Okeechobee Basin Management Action Plans (BMAPs).
This Agreement provides for reimbursement of up to $6,750,000 of the construction costs of the proposed NERWWTF expansion. The project includes improvements to the side stream pump station, deep bed filters, chlorine contact tank, rapid mix chamber, chemical storage and feed building, electrical and instrumentation improvements, and dewatering system.
RECOMMENDATION
Request Board approve Standard Grant Agreement QG033 in the amount of $6,750,000 with the State of Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) for the Northeast Regional Wastewater Treatment Facility (NERWWTF) Expansion from 6.0 to 9.0 million gallons per day (MGD) Project.
FISCAL IMPACT
Project is fully funded in the Utilities Capital Improvement Projects Program Budget (No Fiscal Impact). Scheduled expenditures will be reimbursed by FDEP($6,750,000 one-time grant revenue).
