DESCRIPTION
On February 6, 2024, the Board approved Contract No. 2024-028 with Kamminga and
Roodvoets, Inc. (Contractor) to perform construction work in association with the proposed drainage improvements project along Driftwood Drive from W Daughtery Road to Lake Gibson Road at a cost not-to-exceed $558,436.20. After substantial completion, the Roads and Drainage Division discovered that additional drainage work will help improve upon the work previously done along Driftwood Drive. In particular, it was observed some temporary flooding at the intersections of Bluebird Avenue and Stanley Avenue. Therefore, two new cross drains are proposed to alleviate the flooding condition previously mentioned.
This CO will retain the Contractor to perform the aforementioned work at a not-to-exceed fee of $132,727.20 and extend the contract time by 130 days for a new contract amount of $691,163.40 and contract time of 310 calendar days. This work will be completed in accordance with the construction plans revisions #1, attached.
RECOMMENDATION
Request the Board approve the Driftwood Drive Drainage Improvements project change order #1 for two additional cross drains and associated roadway work at the intersection of Bluebird Avenue & Driftwood Drive and Stanley Avenue and Driftwood Drive ($132,727.20 One-time expense).
FISCAL IMPACT
To cover the additional cost of this project, funds in the amount of $132,727.20 will be used from the Recurring Culvert Failure CIP Project in the Transportation Millage Fund.
