DESCRIPTION

The Florida Constitution establishes that the Legislature redraws district boundaries following each decennial census. Congressional and legislative district boundaries were subsequently modified through legislative actions, most recently through the enactment of HB 1-D, which was signed into law on May 4, 2026. These changes require corresponding updates to county voting precinct boundaries.

Florida Statute 101.001 states, “The board of county commissioners in each county,

upon recommendations and approval of the supervisor, shall alter or create precincts for

voting in the county.  Each precinct shall be numbered and, as nearly as practicable,

composed of contiguous and compact areas.

RECOMMENDATION

Request Board approve precinct changes as recommended by the Polk County Supervisor of Elections, Melony Bell.

FISCAL IMPACT

No fiscal impact.
