DESCRIPTION
The County acquired a fee interest in Parcel ID Number 283218-000000-044010 through a Warranty Deed dated April 30, 1982, which was subsequently recorded in Official Records Book 2082 at Page 443. The parcel is a vacant, rectangular-shaped parcel, containing approximately 1.5-acres, located along the east side of US Highway 27 south of Frostproof. The parcel previously contained a water well the use of which has been discontinued by the County. The well has been closed (abandoned) through the appropriate regulatory authority and the property is no longer needed by the County. Due to its size and location the property is not a buildable parcel and as such is only of use and benefit to the adjacent property owner. The subject parcel lies adjacent to, and is surrounded by, large tracts of land owned by the State of Florida which are managed by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission ("FWC"). County staff contacted FWC to determine if it had any interest in the property. After a review FWC determined that it was interested in the parcel to incorporate into its holdings and a portion of the subject site is currently utilized by FWC as one of the access points to its properties from US Highway 27. Authorizing the conveyance of the parcel to the State will allow FWC to utilize the property in conjunction with its conservation initiatives and will remove the property from the County Land Inventory and allow the County to cease any maintenance activities associated with the property. The subject parcel is being transferred in "as is" condition and the conveyance of the property will be by County Deed.
