DESCRIPTION
Central Florida Speech and Hearing Center, Inc. (CFSHC) is currently contracted with the County to provide audiology services including diagnostic hearing tests, hearing aids and hearing aid fittings, programming, and repairs. Services are provided for free to eligible low-income adult Polk County residents including Polk HealthCare Plan members.
In response to a Request for Applications through Indigent Health Care, CFSHC submitted a request for funding to purchase and build-out two cargo vans converting them into mobile audiology vans. The build-outs will include installed sound booths and equipment needed to perform hearing tests and diagnostics. Once the mobile units are completed, they will be positioned throughout Polk County.
This contract will be effective retroactively from July 1, 2024 to September 30, 2025. This funding request was presented to and approved by the Citizen’s HealthCare Oversight Committee.
RECOMMENDATION
Approve the contract with Central Florida Speech & Hearing Center, Inc. for the purchase and build-out of two mobile audiology services cargo vans.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funds are available in FY 23/24 and budgeted in FY 24/25, in the Indigent Health Care Fund.
