DESCRIPTION
The goal of this Project is to evaluate and potentially advance stormwater management alternatives for the Lake Bonny area. Lake Bonny is generally located between Crystal Lake and Lake Parker on the east side of Lakeland.

Lake Bonny is a 249-acre lake located within the city limits of Lakeland that serves as the receiving body for an approximately 1,086-acre highly urbanized closed basin watershed. The lake has a history of periodic flooding and causing property damage due to its characteristics of being landlocked and having no positive outlet. Most recently, several mobile home communities and residential structures were flooded due to rainfall from Hurricane Milton.

The City of Lakeland recently completed an alternative analysis of the Lake Bonny watershed that identified potential options to mitigate flooding, improve drainage conveyance, and enhance water quality. The Consultant will be tasked to review, validate, and expand upon the City's analysis to support possible future projects for the Lake Bonny watershed.

In addition to the study evaluation, the Consultant will provide design services to construct a carrier pipe under the existing CSX railroad that runs parallel to U.S. 92. The goal of the carrier pipe is to provide an access point to convey emergency pumped flows from Lake Bonny directly to Lake Parker. The connection would help reduce flooding risks to homes along the south side of the CSX railway and allow for sustained pumping operations during future flooding events.
