SUBJECT

title

Election of Chairman, Vice-Chairman and Secretary/Treasurer for the PRWC West Polk Wellfield Project Board of Directors for FY2025 (Action)

body

DESCRIPTION

The Polk Regional Water Cooperative’s (PRWC) Formation Interlocal Agreement and the Implementation Agreements have essentially the same provisions regarding Board of Director’s (BOD) officers.  Both the Regular Cooperative Board, Combined Projects Board, Southeast Wellfield Project Board, and the West Polk Project Board elect a Chairman, Vice-Chairman, and Secretary/Treasurer to serve for a term of one year.  Each officer may serve two consecutive one-year terms, if re-elected.  The Chairman shall be rotated at the end of each term so that the Vice-Chairman shall replace the Chairman, unless the Chairman is re-elected to a second consecutive one- year term and a new Vice-Chairman and Secretary/Treasurer shall be elected each year.

The current Chairman position on the PRWC West Polk Wellfield Project BOD is Bill Mutz (Lakeland), the Vice-Chairman is George Lindsey (Polk County), and the Secretary/Treasurer is Trish Pfeiffer (Bartow).  Under the Interlocal Agreement these officers are eligible to be elected to a second one-year term; however, George Lindsey will no longer be on the Board following the September 2024 Board of Directors meeting.   Therefore, under the Interlocal Agreement, Bill Mutz (Lakeland) can remain as Chairman, Trish Pfeiffer (Bartow) can move to Vice-Chair and a new Secretary/Treasurer will need to be elected.

RECOMMENDATION

Request the BOD to elect a Chairman, Vice-Chairman and Secretary/Treasurer for FY2025 (beginning October 1, 2024 through September 30, 2025).

FISCAL IMPACT
