body
DESCRIPTION
Florida Statute 365.172 requires the County to maintain text-to-911 emergency services. This provides an additional E911 service for the deaf and hearing/speech impaired communities and to residents in any situation where the resident needs emergency services but cannot speak.
In 2020, the Board entered into a 5-year agreement with INdigital, Inc. to provide text-to 911 emergency services to Polk County Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs). To maintain text-to-911 services as required by Florida Law, a new 5-year agreement with INdigital, Inc., is necessary. In accordance with Polk County Ordinance Chapter 2 Article IX Sec. 2-285(b)2, In which telecommunication services are exempt from procurement, this agreement was constructed without a procurement method in place.
The agreement is for five (5) years, billed $53,219.59 annually, totaling $266,097.95.
RECOMMENDATION
Request Board approve agreement with INDIGITAL, Inc. for text-to-911 emergency services to Polk County Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs).
FISCAL IMPACT
Funds are budgeted in the E911 Communications Fund for the upcoming fiscal year and will be budgeted in future fiscal years.
