DESCRIPTION
The Roads & Drainage Division received a request from a citizen to consider a speed limit posting on Fort Clinch Heights Road. In researching the request, the Roads & Drainage Division discovered that a Resolution establishing a speed limit for Fort Clinch Heights Road could not be located and may not exist. Fort Clinch Heights Road is located in the Frostproof area in S-30, T-31S, R-28E, and is classified as a Local Residential road.
Staff conducted traffic studies on Fort Clinch Heights Road as outlined in FS 316.189, and investigated the five-year crash history. Based on the research, it was determined that a posting of 25 M.P.H. is reasonable for this road. To comply with statutory requirements, it is necessary for the Board to adopt a Resolution establishing the proposed speed limit.
RECOMMENDATION
Request Board adopt the associated Resolution to establish the proposed speed zone for Fort Clinch Heights Road. Cost for installation of signs is estimated at $100.07.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funds are budgeted in the FY 24/25 Transportation Millage Fund.
