DESCRIPTION

Approve the CDBG subrecipient agreement between Polk County and Gospel, Inc. for Gospel Village renovations. Gospel Village is central to downtown Lakeland and is within walking distance to other major homeless service providers such as Talbot House Ministries and Lighthouse Ministries. Polk Works and Lakeland Regional Medical Center is also within walking distance from the facility which provides employment opportunities and medical services. The structures on this property are used as emergency shelter units and as transition to permanent housing for those who were homeless and low income.  Gospel Inc has approximately 17 units which needs renovating at Gospel Village. CDBG funds will be used for but not limited to replacing wiring, plumbing, flooring, wall repairs, roofing and installing a new bathroom and kitchen. This project was approved by the Board of County Commissioners by adoption of the Fiscal Year 2023- 2024 Action Plan on July 25, 2023.

 

RECOMMENDATION

Request Board approve this CDBG subrecipient agreement.

 

FISCAL IMPACT

Funds are budgeted in the Special Revenue Grant Fund.
